Lewis- Clark State College (LCSC) is offering a new program:
Semester/Year Abroad in America Program
This program will allow international students who wish to study abroad in America for credit at their home university to study LCSC college classes. LCSC has established different English language requirements and admission requirements for this program.
Overview:
· English language requirements- see below. The student’s English scores will determine if the student can commence college classes immediately or be required to successfully complete the top band of ESL offered at LCSC.
· Students will be able to select college classes from the list provided by LCSC. Enrolment into classes will depend on the student’s major, pre-requisites and availability of classes. Student will normally take 12-14 credits of LCSC college level classes per semester.
· Students commence studies:
o For direct entry into college- Fall semester (August) or Spring semester (January).
o For entry via ESL program- Summer 1 term (May) for possible entry in college August semester or Fall 1 term for possible entry in Spring semester (January).
o Students who do not meet the English Language requirements after studying ESL will not permitted to take a full college load but may be allowed to enroll in college classes while continuing with ESL studies.
· All students will be required to take:
o International Orientation class (1 credit)
o American Culture and Civics (3 credits)

o ESL:
§ Students will pay the published ESL tuition rates and other ESL costs. If studying a college class concurrently with ESL, the ESL load and cost will be adjusted.
o College:
§ Students will pay the published college tuition (updated costs published each May).
§ Students may be eligible for an international scholarship which provides up to $1750 per semester.
· Housing:
o LCSC offers an excellent homestay program. ESL students are given priority for homestay placements
o LCSC also offers on and off campus residence halls and private accommodation options for college students.
o The International Programs Office (IPO) has a housing officer to assist students.
Admission requirements*:
o At least 1 year study at home university.
· Approval to study at LCSC from home university.
· Pre-arranged credit transfer approved by home university.
· At least 2.5 GPA (on a 4 point scale).
*The home university may place additional requirements for their students to study at LCSC.

For direct entry into college: o TOEFL ibt 61, pbt 500 o Institutional TOEFL 520 o IELTS 5 (all bands) o TOIEC 730 o Eiken 2A |
For entry into top band of ESL program: o TOEFL ibt 54-60, pbt 480-499 o Institutional TOEFL 500-519 o IELTS 4.5 (all bands) o TOIEC 600-729 o Eiken 2 |
